Why would users be scared of using your own personalised link such as
https://smgclan.net/member.php?action=re...errer=7092 but not scared of
https://smgclan.net/ or
https://smgclan.net/member.php?action=register? Lets play devil's advocate here and assume you're right, they are scared.
We actually have this option anyway (or something similar anyway).
This is also an auto-complete field, so the user registering doesn't actually have to remember your username fully, just partially. They type in a few letters of your username, your name comes up, then bam, you have the referral. The main two reasons why we use usernames over codes are as follows:
- Usernames are easier to remember than codes
- The user registering can clearly see who they're putting as their referrer
