What's your favourite pokemon game that doesn't follow the main game series such as red/blue to x and y etc. Games like Pokemon Ranger, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Pokken Tournament etc etc.
Mine will always be Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky. The story of this game is by far the most engaging and super emotional too. In fact, you actually develop feelings over the story which is pretty incredible. I won't go too far into the game story details, but you're basically a human that sailed through the seas with a friend by your side, then suddenly a huge storm happens that shattered the boat and splits you and your friend away whilst you wake up in a beach unaware of your surroundings. A pokemon comes up to you and ask if you're okay, and at that moment you wake up and realise pokemon are talking and yourself have become a pokemon of your choice.
And oh gosh don't get me started on the soundtracks. Super good man, in fact I wouldn't move a single muscle whenever I'm in an area where the song just hits different for me. I will link some of my personal favourite soundtracks below the post.
The game is also pretty difficult and it has no difficulty rating, which adds a lot of challenge to it. The bosses in the game also has their stories connected to your main story, and oh man they are literally tough to beat, from Drowzee being your first boss battle all the way to Dialga being your final boss fight. Also Darkrai will be your post game final boss fight and he's extremely difficult to beat. But the great thing is when you beat them in your main story, and then go back to beat them again, they'll allow you to ask for help meaning you can recruit them in your team as well as control them.

It's for the DS but it was also playable on the 3DS too.
